Recently I read the stories of three “downsizers”, people who needed to give up their long term homes with a large lawn and garden. What really distressed me about the story was their obvious heartbreak at having to rid themselves of their belongings and furniture since the reduced size of the home they had purchased did not allow them to move their treasures in with them. A couple even put their things in storage as they couldn’t bear to part with them.
Apart from that problem, I noted that a couple had purchased apartments, this also concerned me. The issue of quarterly strata maintenance fees will no doubt cause them future problems, since owners cannot control these ever rising costs. Not to mention their possible lack of privacy and the loss of the ability to “step out” in their own garden space.
If any of these issues ring alarm bells with you I won’t be surprised.
Now for the good news, I can offer a solution. We are selling our home at 24A South Creek Road, Dee Why. The great part is that while it is a very, spacious, comfortable home it offers a low maintenance lifestyle with no lawns to mow. Private courtyards and raised garden beds allow for easy gardening and and easy lifestyle, at the same time as enjoying the nature which surrounds you. There is plenty of room for your treasured possessions and space for the family to stay over. The layout would even offer the opportunity to rent out a room to bring you some extra income if you chose.
